Westworld is a Western fictional television series designed by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Produced by HBO, it is based on the 1973 film of the same name (by Michael Crichton) and to a lesser extent the sequel to the 1976 film, Futureworld. The story takes place at Westworld, a fictional and technically sophisticated Wild-West theme park called “Hosts” on Android. The garden meets the high-paying “guests” who may indulge in their wild fantasies inside the garden without fear of reprisals from the hosts, whose programs prevent them from harming humans.
